What's going on in the inside and the outside world (my mind and my life)
The Sun's Out, issue #1
Hi, there I’m Aditya (you can call me Adi) and thanks for…bothering to get through the first line.
So let’s do a few basic questions, shall we?
Who (am I?)? I’m a 15-year-old student at a grammar school in Birmingham, currently studying for my GCSEs.Outside of school, I’m an ardent cricket fan and also enjoy some hockey and badminton. Also play 3 instruments: the piano, oboe and the saxophone.
What (is this all about)? Well, to be honest with you, I don’t really know. At the time of writing, I want this to be a place where I can write about my journey through the phenomenon that my life and everybody lives are. At the same time, I’m aware that not everyone would really want to read a weekly diary entry and so I want to also provide you with some value by sharing some of the stuff I’m consuming. You’ll see what I mean
How? No brackets for this one because it’s a pretty wide-ranging question. How often? Once a week, hopefully (if not, blame GCSEs). How much? Should be able to get your way through it in 5 mins (perfect for a drink of some kind).
When? Every Sunday evening. If you do have a better idea of when it would be most ideal, let me know!
Where? On the Internet. Bit specifically, here on Revue, from your email.
Why? The most important of the lot. Why am I doing this? I’ll let you in on a secret: I honestly don’t know. I’ve really wanted to have a newsletter and think it would be a cool thing to do. It will, hopefully, let me connect with many amazing people (yes, you). Let’s see if I can answer this question better in a few issues’ time.
I think the first interesting thing I’m going to talk about is my answers to the questions above. They were the first things that came to my head and those are usually the best answers (or so I’ve been told).
It is interesting, however, that we (me) all automatically attach our identity to our school, workplace or something societal. What do you think about this? You know what to do (let me know).
Book of the week 📖
This week, I’ve just started “Mindfulness: A Practical Guide to Finding Peace in a Frantic World” by Danny Penman, J. Mark G. Williams, and Mark Williams. Just picked it out of my dad’s closet; I’ll let y'all know how it is.
Podcast of the week🎙️
My favourite medium of learning. This week, I’d have to say Episode 128 of Cal Newport’s ‘Deep Questions’ podcast. Listen out for his ingenious “lightweight” way to take notes from books.
